Yes.

In the kernel config.  I think (but I'm not sure) that blktap may not be
included in the mainstream kernel yet and I don't know if there is a
patchset for it.  I think the code is in the older 2.6.32 patched
mayoung kernel but even here it needs to be enabled and the kernel
rebuilt and I don't know how well it works.

I think that blktap is newer.  Other than that I honestly don't know.
