It could be done, but someone would have to write the protocol for it. SCSI 
passthrough already exists, and GPLPV does that, although I'm not sure if it's 
in the later kernels and I'm pretty sure it's not supported in the xl toolstack.

I'm looking at adding trim to the GPLPV drivers  if possible.
