Not done; I'll try to get this fixed up this week.

I probably won't have time to start on this for another two weeks or
so; it's not clear ATM how long it might take to get working after
that (since I haven't even taken a cursory look at it).  If anyone is
sufficiently motivated to take a look, they're welcome to do so. :-)

Re blocker status: I think blockers aren't exactly binary, but more
like "How long can this reasonably block the release"?  I think this
should be probably allowed to delay the release for 1 month, but if
it's more than that (say, 6 months), it's probably best to release
without it.
