Like most everything else, it depends on your setup. The most
important parameter is probably your network: 1GbE or 10GbE? For 1GbE,
as a rule-of-thumb, fully-virtualized can't fill the pipe,
para-virtualized can fill the pipe but has a much higher CPU
utilization than native, and passthrough is pretty close to native in
all parameters, assuming a direct-mapping strategy.
